The electrician's been and the plywood support is going up. The stainless steel splashback is going to be bonded to the plywood. I was planning to take the plaster off this wall, to give us a couple of extra centimetres. It wasn't plaster though - there's rock-hard cement wall stabiliser under that top-skim. So I left it.
